PASS-PORT

A Student's View of PASS-PORT

The "play" symbol denotes a link to an animation.

We'll begin your orientation to PASS-PORT's broad feature set
by viewing an animated overview of a student user's experience.

With PASS-PORT, you will be able to move through your Institution's assessment system. In addition, PASS-PORT will enable you to create electronic portfolios that will contain examples of your work and other valuable resources. These resources can be saved to a CD and taken to job interviews or used in your classes.

Your College or University will also benefit from your use of PASS-PORT. Your work, combined with other students' work, enables professors to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the degree programs and make improvements. This extensive use of technology is highly valued by many national accreditors and this technology experience will stay with you as you move on in your career.

You begin by Logging in to PASS-PORT. You may receive tasks to
Complete a questionnaire or to Read an alert from faculty members in the TASKS ASSIGNED TO ME section. You may also receive a Working Portfolio Template.

The ACCOUNT INFO tab will enable you to Change your password,
Upload a picture, View your personal information, and enter a
Resume or Biography. Your photo and resume will be included on the front page of your exported portfolio.

The ARTIFACTS tab will enable you to collect documents and information about activities. The Files section will allow you to collect documents such as essays, powerpoints, and lesson plans. The
Professional Development section will allow you to record your attendance at workshops and service hours. The Field Experiences area will allow you to collect information about your experiences in schools and other venues. The Links section will allow you to collect links to the web pages you create.

Artifacts can be submitted for either Course Based Evaluation or
Unit Based Evaluation.

The FOLIOS tab will enable you to create Portal Folios and
Working Portfolios.

Portal Folios are the most important portfolios because they will be evaluated with the goal of moving you to the next portal transition point in your degree plan.

You will Request Evaluation of your Portal Folio in order to be evaluated for progression through the portal transition point. Upon successful evaluation of your Portal Folio by faculty, you will progress to the next phase of your degree program.

You will create Working Portfolios for your classes. Your PASS-PORT portfolios are similar to paper binders with tabs. They can be created in two ways. You may create your own Working Portfolio From Scratch or you may be asked to use a Working Portfolio Template created by a faculty member.

When you create a portfolio from scratch, Add a Tab to organize your documents and activities.

Once your tabs are created, you will write Tab Notes to describe the contents of each tab. You can then Add Your Artifacts. You should also Add Standards to each artifact. You can view the standards which you have attached to artifacts in a portfolio by clicking on the View Standards button. You can also Enter a Reflection which relates the particular artifact to the standards which you have chosen. From the cover of your portfolio, you will write a Portfolio Note to describe the contents of the portfolio.

You may view the current version of your portfolio by clicking on the
Preview and Apply Skins button on the cover of your portfolio. You will be able to view the artifacts, standards, and reflections that you have included in your portfolio. When your portfolio is complete, you may
Request Evaluation or Request Feedback from a faculty member. The evaluation or feedback can be viewed by clicking on View Evaluation or View Feedback in your portfolio.

You can export your PASS-PORT portfolios to a CD for viewing outside of PASS-PORT by clicking on Export My Portfolios on the MY PASS-PORT tab. You can use this PASS-PORT CD as evidence of the knowledge and skills gained through your program.
